As a Christian preschool, we believe that a child’s first school experience can set the course for discovering God’s unique plan & purpose for each individual.
We fill our school year with hands-on experiences incorporated into theme-based curriculums. Together we discover that learning is fun & life is an adventure! Our classrooms are large, bright & cheerful. Each of our rooms has several interactive “centers” that make learning fun. And our large fenced playground is well equipped & closely supervised.
Many exciting things happen in our school!
Here is just a sample of some of our activities:
- Weekly Chapel Time with Pastors Susan & Bryan
- Fall Festival Family Night Spaghetti Supper—an evening showcase of the children’s efforts, achievements & artwork. (All children)
- A Thanksgiving feast prepared by the children that the Pilgrims & Indians would be proud of —complete with homemade butter!
- During our “Sea Life” unit, children have the rare opportunity to hold a live starfish from our “Touch Tank”
- In our “Five Senses” unit, children just might make a pizza, or another yummy food —then use all five senses to enjoy the results!
- Community helpers visit & tell us about their jobs (often parents of our enrolled children) —whether firefighters (& their trucks!), a K-9 officer & his police dog, or a jet pilot from MCAS Cherry Point
- And finally, to celebrate our preschool accomplishments & begin our new adventures in Kindergarten, we have a full graduation ceremony — complete with caps & gowns! (4 year olds)
And while our school ‘campus’ is remarkable; God’s world is filled with wonder & excitement just waiting for us to discover! Field trips are great fun for expanding our curriculum.
Some of our past adventures have included visits to:
- A pumpkin patch
- The theatre to see a children’s play
- The fire station, Cow Café or a local pizza shop to explore our community
- The Craven County Library to enjoy Story Time with Miss Pam (Biweekly)
Centenary also offers expanded programs beyond our traditional preschool. (Each program below has an additional fee.)
“Early Birds” - Children can join us as early as 8AM for play before preschool hours
“Lunch Bunch” - Children stay after preschool hours for lunch and supervised activities
Unless otherwise indicated, activities refer primarily to 3 & 4 year olds. Younger children are included where feasible and developmentally appropriate.
