The Centenary Connextion - June 14

From Pastor Tyler

"From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!"

- Second Corinthians 5:16-17

We all have a point of view. Part of what makes life interesting is that we share it with people who have differing perspectives and outlooks on life. But too often, we find our various and sundry points of view shaped more by our human points of view than by our shared life in Christ Jesus. We allow our perspectives to be shaped far more by what news channel we watch or what we like and share on our social media timelines than what we hear from the pulpit on Sunday morning, what we read from the Scriptures throughout the week, and what we learn from other followers on Jesus through small groups and holy friendships.

But the Apostle Paul reminds us this week that we are a new creation, knit together in the body of Christ. This new creation means we are being reconciled more deeply to God and one another. And no matter what issues and challenges threaten to disrupt that reconciliation, the Spirit is at work in our midst, making all things new and drawing us closer to God and one another. This Sunday, in our three worship services, we will reflect on the words of the Apostle Paul and how the Spirit is creating and reconciling work in our midst.
