EPIPHANY: Rise and Shine
The word “epiphany” derives from an ancient Greek word meaning “divine appearance.” To the ancients, an epiphany was an unexpected manifestation of divine power, or the abrupt appearance of a supernatural being. In modern usage, it refers to moments when we suddenly see everything in a different light. In Christian theology, the Epiphany was the revelation of God’s presence and glory in the infant Jesus when the Magi visited the Holy Family. We usually read the story in Matthew 2 and sing “We Three Kings” on Epiphany. Have you ever had one of those “lightbulb over the head” experiences when you suddenly saw your life in a different—and better—way? That’s an epiphany!
