When something terrible happens, we’re tempted to ask, “Why, Lord?” We’ve been taught that (1) Everything happens for a reason, i.e., every effect has a single, well-defined cause; (2) That reason is both knowable and understandable; (3) Knowing the reason will help us to respond appropriately or at least feel better. Are any of those assumptions true? This Sunday, Pastor Spivey will discuss theodicy, or why evil happens. Join us in worship at Centenary!

Fifth Sunday: March 30
Several weeks ago, the Council on Ministries and Worship Committee agreed that the upcoming fifth Sunday, March 30th, would feature a combined service and fellowship meal. Unfortunately, we’ve waited too long to publicize that event and may not get as many to participate as we hoped.
Therefore, the 11:00 combined service and fellowship meal initially scheduled for March 30th will be postponed until the next fifth Sunday, June 29th. On that day, there will be no 8:30 or 9:00 services, and there will be a potluck brunch at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall. You’re invited to bring breakfast casseroles, bagels and toppings, fruit, and other morning foods. Sunday School classes may cancel or reschedule their gatherings on that day.
We apologize for the delay in publicizing the postponed event.
