The Centenary Connexion - June 6

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, which is often referred to as the birthday of the Church. The telling of Pentecost in Acts 2 is a story of joy, excitement, and a bit of chaos: rushing wind, tongues of fire, and a fiery sermon by the Apostle Peter.

But the most interesting aspect of this story is the diversity of the crowd: no fewer than 15 nationalities are represented in the account of Pentecost, and they are all able to understand the Galilean disciples as they speak. The Day of Pentecost marks the first step in the unfolding story of the Acts of the Apostles, where the Holy Spirit empowers the apostles to spread the Good News of Jesus to all people, "in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." God is determined that the church reach all people, regardless of the things that divide us.

Join us this Sunday at 8:30, 9:00, or 11:00 as we encounter the story of Pentecost and experience anew the work of the Holy Spirit as we gather for worship and share in Holy Communion!
