Kathy Mitchell

You’re invited to a new class on the history, beliefs, and practices of United Methodists. Methodism 101 will meet on Wednesday evenings from 630-730 in the Chapel starting March 19. Pastor Vann will lead the class, assisted by Pastors Tyler and Carol. Please mark your calendar and join us to find out who these people called Methodists really are!

Lent 2025 began on Ash Wednesday, March 5, and will end on Easter, April 20. Excluding Sundays, that’s 40 days. The Season of Lent is an invitation to 40 days of renewal ("Lent" means "spring").

Early Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord’s passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church that before the Easter celebration, there should be a 40-day season of spiritual preparation. During this season, converts to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism. It was also a time when persons who had committed serious sins and had separated themselves from the community of faith were reconciled by penitence and forgiveness and restored to participation in the life of the Church. In this way, the congregation was reminded of the mercy and forgiveness proclaimed in the gospel of Jesus Christ and our need to renew our faith.

We invite you, therefore, on behalf of the Church, to observe a holy Lent: By self-examination and repentance, by prayer, fasting, and self-denial, and by reading and meditation on God’s Word.
